EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Editorial Policy

Every page here that states a fact about payments is produced under this policy. Content is drafted by the editorial function and reviewed before publication by whichever subject-matter function owns the material: compliance for pricing mechanics, information security for PCI content, legal for anything restating an operative term. The reviewer is never the author, and a page no reviewing function will stand behind is not published. Editorial does not report into sales. A review date moves only when a fact, figure, method or conclusion actually changed.

The standard, in detail

  • Who writes

Drafting sits with the RapidCents editorial function. Bylines name the accountable function — editorial, payments compliance, information security, hardware operations — rather than an individual, because a function can be held to a standard across staff changes in a way a personal byline cannot.

  • Who reviews

Before publication the subject-matter function that owns the material checks the claims: compliance for pricing and regulatory mechanics, information security for security content, hardware operations for device content, legal for anything restating an operative term. The review is of the claims, not the prose.

  • The author never signs off their own page

Author and reviewer are separate roles held by separate people. A page nobody but its writer will stand behind does not publish, and that rule has no exception for a deadline, a launch or a campaign date.

  • Editorial does not report into sales

No sales, partner or pipeline relationship decides coverage, conclusions or corrections. Sales can raise a subject; it cannot settle one, and it holds no approval right over an editorial conclusion.

  • How topics are chosen

Merchant questions, search demand for questions this site answers badly, regulatory and card-network changes that move a documented fact, and product changes that make an existing page wrong. Not paid placement, and not whatever a partner would prefer written.

  • What materially updated means

A corrected fact, a recalculated figure, a changed method, a revised conclusion, a section added or removed, a source replaced. Those move the review date. Typography, formatting, link repairs and re-publication do not, and the date never moves for the calendar alone.

  • Research and marketing are labelled differently

A product page argues for buying something and says so. A research or comparison page argues about what is true and carries its method. They use different templates and different disclosures, and a marketing claim is never presented as a finding.

  • Errors are corrected in public

A factual error is reported through the corrections policy, corrected on the page, and disclosed there. Silent editing is treated as a failure of this policy rather than a tidy fix, because it repairs one page and devalues every other page on the site.

Questions about this policy: Editorial Policy

Who is accountable for a page?

A named individual inside RapidCents is recorded as accountable for every published page, and a reviewing function is recorded alongside them. What the page displays is the function rather than a personal byline, because the function is what survives staff changes and is what a reader can hold to a standard over time.

Can someone in sales have a comparison changed?

Not by asking. A comparison changes when the evidence changes: a provider updates a first-party source, or a scoring input is shown to be wrong. That route is the corrections policy, and it is the same route a competitor or a member of the public uses.

Why do pages carry two different dates?

Because they are two different facts. The published date is when the page first went live. The reviewed date is when its substance was last checked or changed. Keeping them separate is the only thing that makes the reviewed date worth reading.

Do you write about companies you have a commercial relationship with?

Yes, and the relationship is disclosed on the page. Leaving a partner out of a comparison would distort the comparison; including one without saying so would mislead. The commercial disclosure policy sets out what is disclosed and where.

Is any of this written by AI?

AI tools assist with drafting, structuring and translation support under the AI-assisted content policy. They do not originate facts, produce statistics or decide what a comparison concludes, and every published page has a human accountable for it.

How do I tell you something is wrong?

Email [email protected] or call +1 (844) 957-2743 with the page address and the sentence in question. The corrections policy sets out what happens next, including which errors get a published correction notice and which do not.
