Why RapidCents

Merchants move to RapidCents for three reasons: pricing they can verify on their own statement, one provider across in-person and online acceptance instead of several, and support that reads a statement line by line. Interchange-plus separates network interchange from the RapidCents markup, so providers can be compared on markup rather than headline rate. The figure worth arguing about is the effective rate — total fees divided by processed volume, monthly, terminal and statement charges included — and Fee Check produces it from a statement you already have.

In detail

  • Verifiable pricing

Interchange and markup appear as separate lines, which is what makes an effective rate comparable between providers. A quoted rate that cannot be decomposed cannot be compared to anything.

  • The effective rate is the test

Total fees divided by total processed volume, with monthly, terminal and statement charges included. Anything quoted per-transaction only tells you part of what leaves the account.

  • Card mix moves your cost

Rewards, commercial and card-not-present transactions carry higher interchange. Interchange-plus shows that shift as it happens; a flat rate shows nothing until the effective rate is recalculated.

  • One relationship

Terminals, POS, gateway, links and invoicing settle together, so a growing business does not accumulate providers, contracts and separate reconciliations for each new channel.

  • Migration that does not break trading

Current-state discovery, token mapping where stored cards are involved, parallel testing and staff training happen before cutover, and cutover is scheduled outside peak hours.

  • Support that reads statements

A statement review means going through the fee lines and identifying which are interchange, which are assessments and which are the provider’s, rather than answering with a headline rate.

Questions about Why RapidCents

Can you promise I will pay less?

No, and a provider quoting a saving before reading your statement is quoting from nothing. Fee Check produces your effective rate from a statement you already have. Whether a change helps depends on your card mix, your average ticket and what you pay in monthly and equipment charges — arithmetic you can check either way.

Does interchange-plus apply to American Express?

The interchange-plus breakdown covers Visa, Mastercard and PIN debit. American Express runs on a different commercial model and is quoted and reported separately. If Amex is a meaningful share of your volume, keep it as its own line when comparing providers instead of folding it into one blended figure.

What happens if a fee changes after I sign?

Fee changes are notified. Under the Terms of Service, a merchant who receives notice of a fee increase, a new fee or a material change has ninety days from that notice to cancel: written notice to [email protected] or a call to +1 (844) 957-2743, followed by the account closure form RapidCents provides.

Can I keep the terminals I already have?

It depends on the device and who deployed it, so bring model numbers to the discovery conversation rather than assumptions. Where replacing an estate is impractical, APPIE covers interoperability at the terminal layer, certified connectors cover common platforms, and RapidBridge covers software that was not built for RapidCents.

What do I have to send to get a breakdown?

A recent processing statement — the document that shows fee lines and processed volume. It is not a bank statement and it does not contain customer data. If yours carries account numbers you would rather not share, redact them; the calculation needs the fees and the volume and nothing else.

Will my customers have to re-enter their stored cards?

That is the question to settle before a cutover date is chosen, not after. Where stored credentials can be transferred, tokens are mapped across; where they cannot, re-collection has to be planned and scheduled. A recurring billing file discovered to be non-portable on cutover weekend is the expensive version of this.
