E-commerce and remote acceptance

Secure online payment acceptance for e-commerce

Online payments are card-not-present transactions taken through a website, a checkout page or a payment request rather than a physical terminal. RapidCents combines gateway APIs, hosted checkout pages, payment links and 3-D Secure 2 authentication on one merchant account, with tokenized cards for returning customers and webhooks that tell your systems when an authorization settles. Authorize at checkout and capture when the order ships. Online and in-person volume reconcile in the same dashboard.

  • Gateway, hosted checkout and links in one account
  • 3-D Secure and tokenization built in
  • Webhooks for order and fulfillment automation

Questions about Online Payments

Hosted checkout or API?

Hosted reduces PCI scope fastest. API offers full UX control for dev teams.

Digital wallets supported?

Apple Pay and Google Pay available on supported checkout configurations.

Recurring billing included?

Yes via customer vault and recurring payments product.

Multi-currency?

US dollars settlement is standard. Contact us for cross-border requirements.

What is the difference between card-present and card-not-present pricing?

A card read by a terminal carries less fraud risk than a number typed into a web form, and the card networks price the two differently. Online sales are card-not-present, so they cost more per transaction. 3-D Secure and AVS checks are how a merchant reduces the risk that comes with the channel.

Will 3-D Secure make customers abandon checkout?

3-D Secure 2 sends risk data with the authorization, so most transactions pass without the customer seeing anything and a challenge appears only when the issuer wants one. That is the trade: a step-up on a minority of orders in exchange for lower fraud and a stronger position on disputed transactions.

Can I connect an existing online store instead of building checkout?

Yes. A WooCommerce plugin drops into a WordPress store, the gateway connects to Shopify checkout, and hosted checkout pages work from any stack with a server-side session. The REST API is there when a bespoke storefront or a marketplace needs full control of the experience.

How do I know an online order was actually paid before shipping it?

Webhooks notify your system when an authorization settles or a payment fails, so fulfillment triggers on the event rather than on a customer reaching a thank-you page. Authorize at checkout and capture when the order ships, which keeps the hold and the charge aligned with the goods leaving.
